Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (1998)

A year has passed since the events of “Gundam Wing”. Earth and the colonies now exist peacefully together under the banner of the Earth Sphere Unified Nation. Since the Mobile Suits of the five pilots around Heero Yuy are dangerous and no longer needed, they are to be sent to the sun; only Chang Wufei does not want to give up his Gundam.

On Christmas Eve in 196 A.C., the brief peace is already threatened again: Relena, now vice foreign minister of the new alliance, is drugged during a meeting and kidnapped by soldiers of the Mariemaia Army. At its head is the young Mariemaia, who claims to be the daughter of the deceased Treize and now wants to seek world domination in his place. But it is her grandfather, Dekim Barton, who holds the reins in this plan. His goal: to put the originally planned “Operation Meteor” into action.

Now, it is up to Heero and his companions to mobilise their Gundams again and keep the peace that is still so fresh. However, this mission also has a personal touch, as their erstwhile ally Chang sides with the enemy.

Ein Jahr ist seit den Geschehnissen von »Gundam Wing« vergangen. Die Erde und die Kolonien existieren nun friedlich gemeinsam unter dem Banner der Earth Sphere Unified Nation. Da die Mobile Suits der fünf Piloten rund um Heero Yui gefährlich sind und nicht mehr benötigt werden, sollen sie in die Sonne gesendet werden; nur Chang Wufei will seinen Gundam nicht hergeben.

Am Weihnachtsabend des Jahres 196 A.C. ist der kurze Frieden bereits wieder gefährdet: Relena, jetzt Vize-Außenministerin des neuen Bündnisses, wird während eines Meetings unter Drogen gesetzt und von Soldaten der Mariemaia-Armee entführt. An dessen Spitze steht die junge Mariemaia, die behauptet, die Tochter des verstorbene Treize sein, und indessen an seiner statt die Weltherrschaft anstreben will. Doch es ist ihr Großvater, Dekim Barton, der bei diesem Plan die Zügel in der Hand hat. Sein Ziel: die ursprüngliche geplante »Operation Meteor« in die Tat umzusetzen.

Nun es ist als doch an Heero und seine Gefährten, ihre Gundams wieder zu mobilisieren und den noch so frischen Frieden zu bewahren. Diese Mission hat jedoch auch eine persönliche Note, denn ihr einstiger Verbündeter Chang steht auf Seiten der Gegner.

»Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz« ist ein Kompilationsfilm, der aus den drei OVA-Folgen von »Shin Kidou Senki Gundam W: Endless Waltz« besteht und um ein paar zusätzliche Szenen angereichert wurde. Außerdem gab es ein paar Änderungen beim Soundtrack.
