Muv-Luv Alternative (Stagione 2) (2022)

After negotiations with the rebel forces led by Naoya Sagiri failed because of treachery in the American ranks, Naoya fought one last honourable duel and died. With the rebellion being over, Yuuhi Koubuin can finally make good on her promise to reform the government. The members of the 207th Training Unit have finally completed their training and can now become full-fledged pilots of a Tactical Surface Fighter (TSF). Meanwhile, the Alternative IV plan reaches the next phase to be able to communicate with – and, of course, spy on – the aliens called BETA.

Takeru visits family and friends on his home world, including Sumika, of course, and gains further motivation to save the alternative world. Now that the graduation ceremony is officially over, the newly minted TSF squadron is supposed to conduct a practice battle against battle-hardened pilots to test a new system. But thanks to a BETA attack, Takeru’s motivation is brutally tested: not only is he severely injured and reminded of his own weakness, but a personal loss shortly afterwards traumatises him so much that he flees to his home world.

Escape, however, is not a solution: if he does not return within 24 hours, the way back is blocked forever. He might even cease to exist. Worse still, more and more people around him are losing all memories of him. Can Takeru pick himself up again and face danger and pain?

Nachdem die Verhandlung mit den von Naoya Sagiri geführten rebellischen Truppen gescheitert waren, weil es zu Verrat in den Reihen der Amerikaner kam, bestritt Naoya ein letztes ehrenhaftes Duell und verstarb. Nun, da der Aufstand beendet ist, kann Yuuhi Koubuin endlich ihr Versprechen, die Regierung zu reformieren, einlösen. Die Mitglieder der 207. Trainingseinheit haben ihr Training endlich abgeschlossen und können soeben zu vollwertigen Piloten eines Tactical Surface Fighter (TSF) werden. Währenddessen erreicht der Plan Alternative IV die nächste Phase, um mit den BETA genannten Aliens kommunizieren zu können – und diese natürlich auch gleich auszuspionieren.

Takeru besucht in seiner Heimatwelt Familie und Freunde, darunter natürlich Sumika, und erhält weitere Motivation, die alternative Welt zu retten. Jetzt, da die Abschlusszeremonie offiziell vorbei ist, soll das frisch gebackene TSF-Geschwader einen Übungskampf gegen kampferprobte Piloten durchführen, um ein neues System zu testen. Doch dank eines BETA-Angriffs wird Takerus Motivation brutal auf die Probe gestellt: Nicht nur wird er schwer verletzt und an seine eigene Schwäche erinnert, ein persönlicher Verlust traumatisiert ihn kurz darauf so sehr, dass er in seine Heimatwelt flieht.

Flucht ist jedoch keine Lösung: Kehrt er nicht binnen 24 Stunden zurück, ist der Rückweg für immer versperrt; er könnte sogar aufhören, zu existieren. Schlimmer noch: Zunehmend mehr Menschen aus seinem Umfeld verlieren sämtliche Erinnerungen an ihn. Kann sich Takeru nochmal aufrappeln und all den Gefahren und auch Schmerzen ins Gesicht schauen?
