Inazuma Eleven: Ares (2018)

Things are not looking good for Japanese football. By international standards, it is considered to be rather weak. Even for youth teams, sponsorship is more important than ever, as it is the only way to keep a team afloat and often the only way to participate in matches and tournaments. After their success in the Football Frontier Tournament, the Raimon Team disbands. Their players are dispersed to teams all over the country, hoping to raise the level of Japanese football.

The sponsorship system also caught the Inakuni Raimon team by surprise. Their members have become bored on Backwater Island because they lack real opponents. Participation in matches on the mainland is out of the question because of the lack of sponsors. Even worse, their club is to be dissolved, and demolition work on the pitch has already begun! The mood is conceivably bad, but Sonny Wright, the striker of the disbanded team, does not want to admit defeat so easily. The school headmaster gives them a chance: they are to take part in the football frontier tournament and win at least one game.

But the boys know one thing for sure: the odds are stacked against them in their current situation. So they moved to Tokyo to Raimon Junior High School and formed a new football team. Their very first game goes pretty badly, though their fighting spirit gets them a sponsor and thus enables them to take part in the tournament. Will the team achieve its goal?

Es sieht nicht gut aus für den japanischen Fußball, schließlich wird er im internationalen Vergleich als eher schwach angesehen. Auch für Jugendmannschaften sind Sponsoren nun wichtiger denn je, schließlich erhalten die eine Mannschaft am Leben und sind oftmals auch einfach notwendig, um an Spielen oder gar Turnieren teilzunehmen. Nach ihrem Erfolg im Football-Frontier-Turnier löst sich das Raimon-Team hingegen auf. Deren Spieler werden auf Mannschaften im gesamten Land verteilt, in der Hoffnung, damit das Niveau des japanischen Fußballs zu erhöhen.

Das Sponsor-System erwischt auch das Team Inakuni Raimon kalt. Deren Mitglieder haben sich auf Backwater Island eher gelangweilt, weil es ihnen an richtigen Gegner fehlt. Eine Teilnahme an Spielen auf dem Festland steht außer Frage, weil es an Sponsoren mangelt. Schlimmer noch: Ihr Club soll aufgelöst werden und die Abrissarbeiten am Fußballfeld haben sogar schon begonnen! Die Stimmung ist denkbar schlecht, doch Sonny Wright, Stürmer der aufgelösten Mannschaft, will sich nicht so leicht geschlagen geben. Der Schuldirektor gibt ihnen eine Chance: Sie sollen am Football-Frontier-Turnier teilnehmen und mindestens ein Spiel gewinnen.

Doch die Jungs wissen eines sicher: Aufgrund der aktuellen Situation stehen die Chancen ziemlich schlecht. Also wechseln sie geschlossen nach Tokio auf die Raimon-Mittelschule und gründen dort erneut ein Fußball-Team. Schon ihr erstes Spiel geht ziemlich in die Hose, aber ihr Kampfgeist verschafft ihnen dennoch einen Sponsor und ermöglicht ihnen damit die Teilnahme am Turnier. Wird die Mannschaft ihr Ziel erreichen?
