Lupin III: The First (2019)

While France was occupied by the Nazis, a small group of these occupiers searched for a treasure called Eclipse. A diary in the possession of the name-giving Professor Bresson was supposed to point the way. Although the group could track down the professor, there was no trace of the book. All they found was an amulet – and his granddaughter.

In “Lupin the 3rd: The First”, the missing diary reappears as part of an exhibition, but only a short time later, a letter carrier delivers a card announcing the theft by Arsène Lupine III. The irony is that the letter carrier and the thief are the same person. But a security guard also recognises this and tries to apprehend the master thief. Another irony: the security guard is a thief named Laetitia.

A fight breaks out in which both Laetitia and Arsène lose out, so to speak; the latter is even caught. However, this thief has never been caught for long, and Arsène soon finds the young thief. It turns out that they now both have the keys needed to open the diary. They decide to search for the book together, but Laetitia’s loyalty lies elsewhere …

Während Frankreich von den Nazis besetzt war, suchte eine kleine Gruppe dieser Besetzer nach einem Schatz namens Eclipse. Die Richtung soll ein Tagebuch weisen, das sich im Besitz des namensgebenden Professor Bresson befindet. Zwar konnte die Gruppe den Professor aufstöbern, doch vom Buch fehlte jede Spur. Alles, was sie fanden, war ein Amulett – und seine Enkelin.

In »Lupin III.: The First« taucht das verschwundene Tagebuch im Rahmen einer Ausstellung wieder auf, doch nur wenig später übermittelt ein Postbote eine Karte, mit der Arsène Lupine III den Diebstahl ankündigt. Die Ironie daran: Postbote und Dieb sind dieselbe Person. Doch das erkennt auch eine Sicherheitskraft und versucht, den Meisterdieb dingfest zu machen. Die nächste Ironie: Die Sicherheitskraft ist eine Diebin namens Laetitia.

Ein Kampf entbrennt, bei dem sowohl Laetitia als auch Arsène gewissermaßen den Kürzeren ziehen; letzterer wird sogar gefasst. Doch lange konnte man diesen Dieb noch nie festsetzen, und so findet Arsène bald die junge Diebin. Es stellt sich heraus, dass sie nun beide Schlüssel besitzen, die zum Öffnen des Tagebuchs erforderlich sind. Sie beschließen, gemeinsam nach dem Buch zu suchen, doch Laetitias Loyalität liegt anderswo …
