Sinossi

Constance Grail, daughter of Viscount Grail, had always led an honourable and upright life – just as the founder of her family once exemplified. Only once had she ever been a “wayward child”: at the age of six, she defied her father and slipped away to the marketplace, where she witnessed the execution of the infamous Scarlet Castiel – a woman of such strength, beauty and unshakeable dignity that the sight of her marked Constance forever.

Ten years later, Constance is confronted with another bitter sight: the unfaithfulness of her fiancé, Neil Bronson, with Pamela Francis. Yet that is not all – shortly afterwards, Pamela attempts to humiliate Constance before the assembled nobility by staging a false accusation of theft. While everyone looks away, Constance stands there in stunned disbelief … until a lady steps forward to help her, a woman who cannot possibly be here: Scarlet Castiel.

What the aid of this supernatural presence will ultimately demand of Constance is something she cannot even begin to fathom.
