BioHunter (1995)

The two university professors, Komada and Koshigaya, are experts in the field of molecular biology. But not only that; what none of their students knows is that the two of them also have a little sideline. When they are not working in the lecture hall or the university’s laboratories, they pursue the activity of biohunters. For years, a strange virus called the Demon Virus has terrorised them and turned ordinary people into horrible monsters. Komada is also infected by this virus, but his immune system has managed to defend itself against it and keep it under control. Thus Komada can transform himself into a demon and back again at his discretion.

One evening, while walking alone in the city, Komada witnesses a young girl being chased through the alleyways by several men. He confronts them, but they flee when the police suddenly appear. Komada takes the girl home with him. It turns out that she is the daughter of a famous fortune-teller who was supposed to interpret the future of the future president. In the process, however, he has revealed a terrible secret, and since then, the powerful politician’s men have been after him and his daughter. Since the president’s secret seems to have something to do with the demon virus, Komada and Koshigaya intervene in the case and decide to help the old man and his daughter. Together they confront the influential politician and his dark secret.

Die beiden Uni-Professoren Komada und Koshigaya sind Experten auf dem Gebiet der Molekularbiologie. Doch nicht nur das; was keiner ihrer Studenten weiß, ist, dass die beiden auch noch eine kleine Nebenbeschäftigung haben. Wenn sie nicht gerade im Hörsaal oder den Labors der Uni arbeiten, gehen sie nämlich der Tätigkeit des Biohunters nach. Schon seit Jahren terrorisiert ein eigenartiger Virus, Dämonenvirus genannt, sein Unwesen und verwandelt normale Menschen in abscheuliche Monster. Auch Komada ist von diesem Virus befallen, doch sein Immunsystem hat es geschafft sich gegen das Virus zu wehren und es unter Kontrolle zu halten. So kann Komada sich nach eigenem Ermessen in einen Dämon verwandeln und wieder zurück.

Als Komada eines Abends alleine in der Stadt unterwegs ist, muss er mit ansehen, wie ein junges Mädchen von mehreren Männern durch die Gassen gejagt wird. Er stellt sich den Männern entgegen und als plötzlich die Polizei auftaucht, verschwinden sie auch schnell. Das Mädchen nimmt Komada mit nach Hause. Wie sich herausstellt, ist sie die Tochter eines berühmten Wahrsagers, der die Zukunft des künftigen Präsidenten deuten sollte. Dabei hat er aber ein schreckliches Geheimnis gelüftet und seitdem sind die Männer des mächtigen Politikers hinter ihm und seiner Tochter her. Da das Geheimnis des Präsidenten irgendetwas mit dem Dämonenvirus zu tun zu haben scheint, schalten sich Komada und Koshigaya in den Fall ein und beschließen dem alten Mann und seiner Tochter zu helfen. Zusammen stellen sie sich dem mächtigen Politiker und seinem dunklen Geheimnis.
