Saiunkoku Monogatari 2nd Series (2007)

In “Saiunkoku Monogatari 2nd Series”, Shuurei Kou finally made it: because she saved Sa province from collapse, she and Eigetsu Tou are both appointed as its governors. Their concept for the province is to make it a centre for scientific research. The proposal is widely accepted and has the necessary political support thanks to Shuurei’s bond with Ryuuki, Saiunkoku’s current emperor.

But there’s no time for Shuurei to rest: While she works diligently in the capital to implement her plans, her uncle is busy making marriage plans for her. Eigetsu remains in Sa Province, but as reports of a strange epidemic accumulate, he is caught up in his past – and soon disappears.

When Shuurei learns of the rapidly spreading disease, she gathers numerous doctors to find a cure; one text in particular, from Eigetsu’s adoptive father, proves useful. However, the circumstances, as well as Eigetsu’s current situation, are, of course, the perfect opportunity for Shuurei’s opponents to try to get rid of her. Can Shuurei survive the current events without her grand plans failing in the process?

In »Saiunkoku Monogatari 2nd Series« hat es Shuurei Kou endlich geschafft: Weil sie die Provinz Sa vor dem Zusammenbruch gerettet hat, werden sie und Eigetsu Tou als deren Gouverneur ernannt. Ihr Konzept für die Provinz sieht vor, aus dieser ein Zentrum für wissenschaftliche Forschung zu machen. Der Vorschlag findet viel Zustimmung und hat dank Shuureis Band zu Ryuuki, Saiunkokus aktuellem Kaiser, auch die nötige politische Unterstützung.

Doch Shuurei ist kein Moment der Erholung vergönnt: Während sie in der Hauptstadt emsig an der Umsetzung ihrer Pläne arbeitet, schmiedet ihr Onkel emsig Heiratspläne für sie. Eigetsu verbleibt in der Provinz Sa, doch als sich Berichte über eine merkwürdige Epidemie häufen, wird er von seiner Vergangenheit eingeholt – und verschwindet alsbald.

Als Shuurei von der sich schnell ausbreitenden Krankheit erfährt, versammelt sie zahlreiche Ärzte, um ein Gegenmittel zu finden; gerade ein Text von Eigetsus Adoptivvater erweist sich dabei als nützlich. Doch die aktuelle Situation sowie Eigetsus aktuelle Situation sind für Shuureis Gegner natürlich die perfekte Gelegenheit, diese ins politische Aus zu drängen. Kann Shuurei die aktuellen Ereignisse überstehen, ohne dass ihre großen Pläne dabei scheitern?
