Detroit Metal City (2008)

“How could this happen?” asks young Souichi Negishi, who has come to Tokyo from the countryside to study and make music. He likes listening to Swedish pop music, drinking tea and wishing for nothing more than world peace. It’s hard to imagine him being the guitarist and singer of the death metal band Detroit Metal City. At the concerts, he, as Krauser, screams lyrics about sex, rape, and murder into his microphone. The private lives of the three band members are quite different: they are just ordinary guys who have nothing to do with metal and the metal lifestyle.

Then Souichi’s former fellow student Yuri comes back into his life, and from then on, everything goes haywire. Yuri hates DMC – and, above all, detests Krauser. Negishi now tries to hide his involuntary double life from Yuri and, at the same time, not to disappoint his fans …

»Wie konnte das passieren?«, fragt sich der junge Souichi Negishi, der vom Land nach Tokio gekommen ist, um zu studieren und Musik zu machen. Er hört gerne schwedische Pop-Musik, trinkt am liebsten Tee und wünscht sich nichts lieber als den Weltfrieden. Kaum vorstellbar, dass er Gitarrist und Sänger der Death-Metal-Band Detroit Metal City ist. Auf den Konzerten schreit er als Krauser Texte über Sex, Vergewaltigung und Mord in sein Mikrofon. In dem Privatleben der drei Bandmitglieder sieht es ganz anders aus: Sie sind ganz normale Jungs, die mit Metal und dem Metal-Lifestyle nichts am Hut haben.

Dann tritt Souichis frühere Studienkollegin Yuri wieder in sein Leben und von nun an geht alles drunter und drüber. Yuri hasst nämlich DMC – und verabscheut vor allem Krauser. Negishi versucht nun sein unfreiwilliges Doppelleben vor Yuri zu verbergen und gleichzeitig seine Fans nicht zu enttäuschen …
