Il professor Layton e l'eterna Diva (2009)

In “Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva”, Professor Layton and his assistant Luke are invited by the opera singer Janice Quatlane to the Crown Petone opera house to attend her performance – in an opera that is all about the kingdom of Ambrosia and the secret of eternal life. The invitation is no coincidence, however, as Janice also mentions her former friend Melina Whistler, who died a year ago and has reappeared as a seven-year-old child, claiming to have attained immortality.

The professor and his assistant attend, but no sooner is the performance over than a masked man appears on stage and announces a game in which the prize is eternal life. Layton and Luke may have been the only ones who didn’t know about the game, but nobody anticipated what the losers would face – namely, the loss of their own lives. Full-scale panic breaks out, but when the theatre turns into a ship and sails out to sea, those involved have no choice but to play the game. This includes Layton and Luke, who, during all the upcoming dangers, also have to solve the mystery surrounding the reborn Melina …

In »Professor Layton und die ewige Diva« werden Professor Layton und sein Assistent Luke von der Opernsängerin Janice Quatlane ins Opernhaus Crown Petone eingeladen, um dort ihrem Auftritt beizuwohnen – in einer Oper, in der sich alles um das Königreich Ambrosia und das Geheimnis des ewigen Lebens dreht. Die Einladung ist allerdings kein Zufall, denn Janice erwähnt darin auch ihre einstige Freundin Melina Whistler, die vor einem Jahr gestorben und nun als siebenjähriges Kinder wieder aufgetaucht sei, mit der Behauptung, die Unsterblichkeit erlangt zu haben.

Der Professor und sein Assistent nehmen teil, doch kaum ist die Vorstellung vorbei, erscheint ein Maskierter auf der Bühne und kündigt ein Spiel an, bei dem als Gewinn das ewige Leben winkt. Zwar mögen Layton und Luke die einzigen gewesen sein, die nichts vom Spiel gewusst haben, doch keiner hat geahnt, was den Verlierern blüht – nämlich der Verlust des eigenen Lebens. Es bricht umfassende Panik aus, doch als sich das Theater in ein Schiff verwandelt und aufs Meer schippert, bleibt den Beteiligten nichts anderes übrig, als an Spiel teilzunehmen. So auch Layton und Luke, die während all der anstehenden Gefahren auch noch das Rätsel rund um die offenbar wiedergeborene Melina zu lösen haben …
