Piccolo Nemo: Avventure nel mondo dei sogni (1989)

“Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland” is about little Nemo, who tends to dream the wildest things. One day, he and his sliding squirrel Icarus are admiring a parade in honour of a circus. But Nemo can’t attend it because his parents are too busy. Therefore, that night, he falls into an all-too-realistic dream: a supposed member of the circus parade turns out to be Professor Genius, who has been sent by King Morpheus to bring Nemo to his kingdom, Slumberland. He is to become the new playmate of Princess Camille. However, it takes a box of delicious cookies, personally selected by the princess, to convince the sceptical Nemo to come along.

According to the king, Nemo is not only to become Camille’s playmate but also the successor to the throne! To top it all off, Nemo is given a golden key that can open doors for everyone. He and Camille get along famously and travel the country until the mean and feared clown Flip drives them into a cave and tricks Nemo into opening a forbidden door, unleashing evil, nightmarish forces that are a danger to everyone. Only Nemo seems to be able to stop this nightmare, but he must hurry because the events affect not only Slumberland …

»Little Nemo: Abenteuer im Schlummerland« handelt vom kleinen Nemo, der dazu neigt, die wildesten Sachen zu träumen. Eines Tages bewundert er mit seinem Gleithörnchen Icarus eine Parade zu Ehren eines Zirkus. Doch den kann Nemo nicht besuchen, weil seine Eltern schlichtweg zu beschäftigt sind. In dieser Nacht verfällt er daher in einen allzu realistisch wirkenden Traum: Ein vermeintliches Mitglied der Zirkusparade entpuppt sich als Professor Genius, der von König Morpheus gesandt worden ist, um Nemo in sein Reich, das Schlummerland, zu holen. Er soll der neue Spielgefährte der Prinzessin Camille werden. Allerdings braucht es schon eine Box voller leckerer Kekse, von der Prinzessin persönlich ausgesucht, um den skeptischen Nemo zum Mitkommen zu bewegen.

Laut dem König soll Nemo nicht nur Camilles Spielgefährte werden, sondern auch der Thronnachfolger! Zu allem Überfluss erhält Nemo auch noch einen goldenen Schlüssel, der allen Türen öffnen kann. Er und Camille verstehen sich bestens und reisen durch das Land, bis der gemeine und gefürchtete Clown Flip sie ihn eine Höhle treibt und dort Nemo überlistet; der öffnet eine verbotene Tür und entfesselt damit böse, alptraumhafte Mächte, die eine Gefahr für jedermann sind. Nur Nemo scheint in der Lage zu sein, diesen Alptraum zu stoppen, doch er muss sich sputen, denn die Geschehnisse wirken sich nicht nur auf das Schlummerland aus …
