Asahi Sonorama was founded on the 9th September 1959 under the name Asahi Sonopress as a department of the company Asahi Shimbun-sha to record interviews, news and articles about a various of topics in order to publish them on tape or sonosheet in the magazine Asahi Sonorama, from which the name of the department originates. Over time, Asahi Sonorama began to publish magazines, manga and novels as well.

In the year 2007, the department was finally dissolved and Asahi Shimbun-sha took over any and all publications of Asahi Sonorama.

Asahi Sonorama wurde am 9. September 1959 unter dem Namen Asahi Sonopress als Abteilung der Firma Asahi Shimbun-sha gegründet, um Interviews, Nachrichten und Artikel über eine Vielzahl von Themen aufzunehmen und dann auf Band und Sonosheets in dem Magazin Asahi Sonorama, von dem die Abteilung ihren Namen erhielt, zu veröffentlichen. Mit der Zeit begann Asahi Sonorama dann ebenfalls Magazine, Mangas und Novels zu publizieren.

Im Jahr 2007 wurde die Abteilung schließlich aufgelöst und Asahi Shimbun-sha übernahm sämtliche Veröffentlichungen von Asahi Sonorama.
