Gainax Co., Ltd. is a Japanese animation studio founded on December 24, 1984, and headquartered in Musashino.

The company is best known for the anime “Neon Genesis Evangelion”. In addition to anime, Gainax also produces computer software.

The production of the anime “Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise” led to the foundation of the animation studio in 1984. The studio outsources the production of many of its anime to other companies. Since September 2016, all animation departments have been outsourced to Fukushima Gainax (currently: Gaina Co., Ltd.).
