Der Krieg um den »Heiligen Gral« beginnt erneut … Auf der Suche nach dem »Heiligen Gral«, der imstande ist, seinem Besitzer einen Wunsch zu erfüllen, kämpfen sieben Magier mit ihren treuen Dienern um den Sieg. In den vergangenen drei Kriegen konnte kein Sieger bestimmt werden, weshalb die Entscheidung vertagt wurde, doch nun bricht der vierte aus. Versammelt in der Arena »Fuyuki« bemerken die Magier einen einsamen Mann – Kotomine Kirei. Das Schicksal nicht begreifend ist Kirei inmitten seiner vielen Fragen verloren. Warum wurde jemandem wie ihm die Macht verliehen, einen Diener zu beschwören? Auf seinem kämpferischen Weg trifft er schon bald seinen Erzfeind – Emiya Kiritsugu, einen mysteriösen Mann, der nach dem Wunder des Grals sucht.

Dies ist die Vorgeschichte zu »Fate/Stay Night« und enthüllt die ganze Wahrheit über den 4. Krieg des Grals …
