Fated to Love You (2014)

The eccentric Lee Gun belongs to a wealthy family that runs a hair products company. Although he is very committed to the people who are important to him, he often treats the rest with contempt. Kim Mi-Young is a young and naive woman who works in a law firm. She is a sweet character, can’t say no to practically anyone and has, therefore, already earned the nickname “Post-it Girl”. As true crude coincidence would have it, they both unknowingly and independently drink a drugged drink. As Mi-Young also accidentally staggers into Gun’s room, a one-night stand is inevitable.

The next morning, the horror is great, and the misunderstanding all the more so. The consequence of all this is that Mi-Young becomes pregnant. Meanwhile, Gun and his grandmother are in an increasingly bad position in the company because the heir to the company is still not married, despite his long-standing relationship with the successful ballerina Kang Se-Ra. And with all the men in Gun’s family dying of Huntington’s disease at a relatively young age, the pressure to produce a male heir is enormous. As a result, Gun and Mi-Young marry, albeit not for love.

As if things weren’t complicated enough, Gun’s real love, Se-Ra, decides that she no longer wants to prioritize her career over her love life. Mi-Young, on the other hand, meets the famous designer Daniel Pitt, who is taken by her kindness and gets interested in her more and more. Can the unlikely couple find happiness under these circumstances?

Der exzentrische Lee Gun gehört zu einer reichen Familie, die ein Unternehmen für Haarprodukte leitet. Zwar setzt er sich sehr für die Menschen ein, die ihm wichtig sind, behandelt den Rest aber oft eher geringschätzig. Kim Mi-Young ist eine junge und naive Frau, die in einer Anwaltskanzlei arbeitet. Sie ist ein liebes Wesen, kann praktisch zu niemanden Nein sagen und hat sich daher bereits den Spitznamen »Post-it Girl« eingefangen. Wie es der wahrliche krude Zufall so will, trinken beide unwissentlich und unabhängig voneinander ein mit Drogen versetztes Getränk. Da Mi-Young auch noch versehentlich in Guns Zimmer torkelt, ist der One-Night-Stand vorprogrammiert.

Am nächsten Morgen ist das Entsetzen groß, das Missverständnis umso mehr. Die Konsequenz des Ganzen: Mi-Young wird schwanger. Gun und seine Großmutter haben unterdessen einen zunehmend schlechten Stand im Unternehmen, weil der Erbe desselben noch immer nicht verheiratet ist, trotz seiner langjährigen Beziehung zur erfolgreichen Ballerina Kang Se-Ra. Und da alle Männer in Guns Familie in relativ jungen Jahren an der Huntington-Krankheit verenden, ist der Druck enorm, einen männlichen Erben zu zeugen. So kommt es, dass Gun und Mi-Young heiraten, wenn auch nicht aus Liebe.

Als wär die Lage nicht kompliziert genug, scheint Guns eigentliche Liebe Se-Ra mittlerweile doch nicht mehr die Karriere dem Liebesleben vorziehen zu wollen. Mi-Young hingegen trifft auf den berühmten Designer Daniel Pitt, der von ihrer Freundlichkeit ziemlich angetan ist und sich zunehmend für sie interessiert. Kann das ungleiche Paar unter diesen Umständen sein Glück finden?
